The Game

Life’s gift… what is the GIFT of life? For me, it feels like an endlessly creative, energy soup game. No matter my circumstance, at any moment I can change my mind, and recreate my next steps. If I don’t like what I’m experiencing, it is only my imagination that confines me. There are limitations that are unique to me, but that seems to also be part of the game. Some things are terrifying, some are exquisite, and there is everything in between. My experience of life is continuously changing and expanding, contracting and twisting, and yet some things stay the same — at least just long enough to feel more solid compared to others. I have access to instant reset buttons, guidance if I ask for it, and playful languages that are up to me to develop.
No matter how heavy, low, or dark life gets, I continue to find a way back to elated, peaceful bliss. Asking “what would Love do?” while in meditation is a regular question that guides me through horrific times. The outcomes are not always what I would have guessed as the solution, but the bigger picture always seems far wiser in comparison. My health, function, and pain levels have been a direct reflection of when I’m off course. When I get back on course, or watch others do the same, miraculous healings happen. What a game! What a gift. The ability to allow, experience, and appreciate all ranges of emotions, thoughts, and experiences is increasingly mind blowing, sometimes terrifying and always exciting.
It’s equally amazing how completely I can lose sight of this awareness. During times of extreme overwhelm, stresses in the public world, in my personal life, and within my mind, have taken over. I’ll suddenly realize I have been sinking below the surface. “Blub, blub, blub.” My body may have symptoms that get my attention. Injuries are an immediate wake up call. In all cases, I can use my reset buttons. No matter the repeating patterns, whether in the world, family, parenting, relationships with others, or with myself, they have a purpose. Losing my awareness can take over for minutes or hours, days or decades. But I eventually realize what is happening and go within, shift my mindset within a few breaths, then open and receive on what seems to be a full body, subatomic level. Sometimes I ask for help from what I now know to be endless non-physical resources. Synchronicities return. Profound peace replaces all suffering, all doubt, all fear. It may take a bit to percolate through, but the healing balm is profound. The joy of life returns, or rather, I choose joy. I remember I have access to the highest frequencies at any time I choose!
I used to be afraid to express how high my ups and how low my downs can be. But it seems that more and more people in the world are having intense overwhelming experiences, and sometimes giving up too quickly, so I’m not going to be shy anymore! Sharing what I have learned about this game may help someone — infinite love, choosing joy, our breath, are healing resources.
A yoga instructor recently shared, “In any struggle, we can always come back to our breath.” I learned recently that the heart and the diaphragm develop above the brain in the fetus, then fold down into the chest, followed by the ribs wrapping around from the spine to join the breastbone for protection. My chakra-oriented brain realized this means our heart develops originally in our 8th chakra, our point of inspiration, the bright white light that ignites when inspiration hits. The symbol of the lightbulb is more than symbolic in my experience, as I’ve seen pops of white light above people’s heads as they suddenly say, “Ah ha!” and their whole body responds in a moment of receiving. The diaphragm develops above the heart, before folding down, creating an even deeper meaning than ever before for me that our breath is truly our point of contact with life itself, even higher in connection than the wisdom of our heart. Each awareness adds to our resources. “In any struggle, we can always come back to our breath.”
If my gift of life is this incredible game, my silver linings are the resources, and sharing them is my purpose. One of my favorite resources is gratitude. Deepest thanks to Sundi and Karen for the opportunity to share and express myself through this powerful series. My warmest wishes to them both, and all the authors.
